Happy Spring! It’s here – finally, and um… hopefully? We have blue skies and sunshine in our little corner of Maryland – I’ll take it over the snow any day. I may whip out my flats and take a walk to pick up Big from school this afternoon – well, it’s a good thought…
Today’s DIY is washi inspired. Washi tape is everywhere and I wanted to share with you a little treat bag project that will utilize this happily patterned tape. What’s this washi tape, you ask? It’s basically a patterned tape that is used as regular tape and/or used to decorate anything it can stick to. This project will use it as both, cuz that’s how I roll. (more…)
Happy Monday! Another snow day today, and we’re snuggled up in our warm home and crafting. My son (Big) even tried out my pen holder and a couple of my calligraphy nibs. Dude’s got some skills, in my very biased opinion.
Anyway, today, I wanted to share my newest packaging project – Tag Barrettes (if this term is not copyrighted, I’m taking it!)
They are just like hair barrettes but made of paper and are used to hold tags, instead of hair. Let’s jump in shall we? (more…)
A quick post today. I wanted to share that I finally took the plunge. I enrolled and completed the amazing Molly Jacques’ Skillshare Modern Calligraphy course. It is an intro to pointed pen Calligraphy and in my humble opinion… rocks. I had all these little doubts about using pen and ink, because you know I love my gel pens, but let’s just say – I’m in. The course goes through everything from the materials (nibs, paper, ink) to the strokes, alphabet and developing your own Modern Calligraphy style. I spent the last evening just playing with letters and – I’ve reached new heights to pen love, friends, new heights. Stay tuned on my little attempts at sharing this love with you.
I’ve been married for just over 13 years and I have to admit that I still love all things wedding – the invitations, the lettering, THE DRESS.
I came across the Martha Stewart Vintage Floral Punch Around the Page set, and it just made me think of walking down the aisle again with my fella. Instead of lining the envelopes (which I adore too, and yes, I would post on that soon!), I played around with just using strips of the design as an inset border. It requires just a little bit of angling, but totally worth it. If you plan on making the envelopes yourself, I made mine using a mini scoring board. On the back of it there is an envelope guide/ how-to for various standard envelope sizes.
