It’s Teacher Appreciation week and Mother’s Day will be in a few days. If you’re as far behind as I am with getting the gifts out on time, try these DIY Abstract Plant Gift Tags. At least you know the packaging will be pretty! These sweet little images are free this week on Creative Market and I thought I’d take a walk on the wild side and make diamond shaped tags instead of square (Har! Har!). Anyhoo – read on to make your own!
DIY Abstract Plant Gift Tags – What You Need
- Silhouette Studio – there is a free version!
- Abstract plant images (I used these from Creative Market which are free this week!)
- Printer
- Scissors
- Bristol paper – this is like a thicker cardstock (cut into 8.5 x 11 in sheets so that you can print on them)

DIY Abstract Plant Gift Tags – Instructions
- Open your abstract plant images (.png) in Silhouette Studio
- Create a square and fill with color
- Rotate your square so that the shape is now a diamond
- Resize your abstract plant image and place it in the middle of the square
- Create another diamond that is bigger than the one you made in step 2 – this will be the white frame or border around your gift tag. Make sure the lines of this outer square will be visible when you print by changing the Line Thickness
- Center your diamonds and image
- Group your diamonds and image
- Repeat for each gift tag
- Send to print
- Cut out your gift tags
Aren’t these the cutest little tags? Imagine them on gift boxes or small bouquets of flowers. They should take you about 20-30 minutes, depending on the number you create. If you are doing a lot and own a Silhouette cutting machine (I own the CAMEO 3), use the Print and Cut feature to save time. Let me know how your DIY Abstract Plant Gift Tags turn out!
