What You Need To Know About Temporary Tattoo Paper:
I love a good Printable Temporary Tattoo Paper project. If you’re new to this little corner of the interwebs, I thought I’d share an introduction to this super medium, that will hopefully answer any questions you may have before using it for decorating your Christmas ornaments.
The temporary tattoos you make with Silhouette America’s Temporary Tattoo Paper are perfect for kids’ and adults’ party favors and sporting events. What’s also even more amazing about these temporary tattoos is that you can apply them to other smooth surfaces like your blank Christmas ornaments! The temporary tattoos can be applied easily with water with images of your choosing.
Silhouette makes a range of temporary tattoo paper options:
- Clear
- Gold
- Silver
- White
For today’s DIY Christmas Ornaments project, we will use the clear sheets, because you can print .png images on the sheets and they come out with a clear background that is perfect for your ornaments!

How To Make DIY Christmas Ornaments With Watercolor Florals
Open your watercolor images in the Silhouette Studio software
- Open your watercolor floral images in Silhouette Studio
- Resize your watercolor floral images so that they will fit on your ornaments
- Mirror your watercolor floral images so that they are reversed. When the images are printed and applied to your ornaments, they will appear the correct way
- Place your watercolor floral images in the printable area of the Silhouette Studio software
Print Your Watercolor Floral Images onto Temporary Tattoo Paper
- Load your temporary tattoo paper into your printer, making sure that the images will print on the glossy side. I recommend using the highest quality print settings or photo paper settings
- Send your pretty images to print
- Let the ink dry
Prepare Your Temporary Tattoos for Your Ornaments
- Apply the adhesive sheet (that comes with your temporary tattoo paper) to the top of your printed images. You can do this by peeling away the green backing on one end, aligning it with the end of the printed tattoo paper. Now continue to peel and smooth the adhesive down to your printed tattoo paper
- Use the scraper to smooth out any bubbles and rub the adhesive sheet to the images
Cut and Apply Your DIY Temporary Tattoos To Your DIY Christmas Ornaments
- Use your scissors to cut out the watercolor floral images, staying very close to each image’s edge
- For each tattoo, peel off the clear adhesive layer
- Apply each tattoo image face down on to your white ornament, and cover with a wet cloth or sponge for 10-15 seconds until the white paper backing slides off easily
And that’s it! You’ve made your own beautiful DIY Christmas Ornaments with temporary tattoos! Tell me in the comments below how they turned out!
