I know a lot of important historical stuff is happening today, but if you need a creative break, come on over and make pretty things with me. I’m particularly in a jumpy-clappy mood because my two favorite worlds have officially collided – Angie Makes designs are now in the Silhouette Design Store! You know I love Angie’s stuff and have made more than a few things here on this little blog featuring her lovely work. These DIY Heart Patterned Gift Boxes are no exception. I thought this little updated gift box idea would be great packaging idea for Valentine’s. You can leave it as black and white or color in a couple hearts like I did… Read on for the full tutorial…

- Box and Flower Tags design. The top of the box is the one with the smaller tabs

DIY Heart Patterned Gift Boxes – Instructions
- In Silhouette Studio, open your box design and place the top of the box in the print/cut area
- Use the rectangle tool to draw a square the same size as the top of your box
- Change the color to black and thicken the lines (set to No Cut) – this will be your border
- Merge the heart pattern and resize so that it sits in the center of the top of your box (set to No Cut)
- Show registration marks and send to cut using cardstock settings
- Group everything together and remove the top of the box design and place the bottom of the box design on the page
- Remove the registration marks
- Send to cut using cardstock settings
- Optional – color some of the hearts with colored pencils
- Assemble your box by folding at the dashed lines and glueing the tabs
And there you have it. You’re now set for packaging some Valentine’s gifts this year! What colors did you use for your hearts?
