Happy Valentine’s Day! Continuing from my Trends To DIY, here’s another DIY Jewelry tutorial I’d like you to try where you do not need any tools. A jewelry trend you can easily DIY is statement earrings. Big bold earrings with turquoise are a combination that will certainly light up your style – from casual to formal. I love making these earrings because once you have the earring parts, you will be wearing them in less than 5 minutes. Trust. Read on, and I’ll show you how!
What You Need To Make Easy DIY Statement Earrings
You only need these 2 items:
- Gold ear wires or ear hooks. Make sure the ones you get are the ones with the ball hook and no closures
- Large charms. I got these polished gold vintage pendants on Etsy. I absolutely love the texture, weight and size of these pendants. They are also giving me a boho vibe and I am all over it.

How To DIY This Jewelry Trend: Statement Earrings
- Gently open the small loop in your ear wire (where the ball hook is) with your fingers
- Thread the large gold charm from the back of the earring to the base of the small loop
- Gently close the loop with your fingers
- Repeat for the other earring
- Make as many pairs you need if you giving as gifts

PS – Care Suggestions For Your Easy DIY Statement Earrings
Whether you are making these fun statement earrings for yourself or as a gift, here are some suggestions on how to care for your handmade earrings that I got from one of my favorite earring parts sellers on Etsy:
- Avoid wearing your DIY Earrings in swimming pools or the ocean. If you are near a pool, or an ocean I’m high fiving you all the way. But please note that the chemicals in the pool water and salt water may destroy those gorgeous statement pieces. Generally, getting your “couture” wet is not such a good idea
- To clean your sassy earrings, gently polish them with a soft, lint-free cloth to avoid any scratching
- Store your pretty DIY Earrings in a cool dry place.
- Avoid wearing your earrings to bed. I mean, ouch, right? They are pretty big and I can’t imagine a sound sleep with them on
